Item Groups provide an easy way to base your reports or pricing on "types" of items instead of individual items. Items of a type are grouped and given a name. For example, you can group your diary products based on size, such as Quart ice cream, Half-gallon ice cream, and Gallon ice cream.
Whether generating reports or adjusting prices, item groups provide a quick and easy method for working with items.
Note: Many companies use Merchandise Categories (MCATs) in place of or together with item groups. See About Merchandise Categories for more information on MCATs.
See also Manage Item Groups.
The following are typical examples of item groups. Notice that the same item can be used in more than one group.
