Master Items provide standard descriptions, UPCs, and other information. In VMP, a distributor’s item must be “linked” with a Master Item.
This screen provides a view of the Master Items associated with a particular Brand, Packaging, or Size. Once displayed, the VMP Manger can update an item's retailer information, such as the High PTR/PTC, Ware, Margin Category, and the retailer’s Item Number. Options are included to manage "multiple item" Firewall Alerts and add Brands.
Although a variety of search criteria is provided, specific Master Items can be easily be located using the UPC Product Code Pattern fields.
Export Note: Changing a Margin Category or Psych. Pricing Category generates a VMP 879 pricing export.
Follow these steps:
-- Add a Brand
From the Vendor Managed Pricing tab:
Note: If a choice is made in one field, the other fields update to match. For example, if a Brand is selected, the Packaging list provides choices only for that Brand. UPC - Enter the UPC without dashes. The default is UPCA format 5-5 (10 digits). Click the link to change the format, if needed. Brand - Select the brand. Packaging - Select the container, such as Keg or Can. Pack - Select how the item is bundled. Sellable / Non-Sellable - Select whether the item is the sellable unit or the case.

Note: All fields must have an entry. Please note that some fields may be "ready only". Retailer Item Number - Retailer's internal ID for the item. For Walmart this can be numbers only (no alpha or symbols) and exactly nine (9) digits. High PTR - Maximum Price to Retailer allowed. High PTC - Maximum Price to Consumer allowed. Ware - Number of sell units in item as delivered by the distributor. For example, 4 six-packs in a case or 1 24-pack. Margin Category - Select the item's category for margin assignment. Psych. Pricing Category - This refers to Walmart's category logic for rounding/ending retail prices. If the item is beer, select the BEER category. If no category matches your item, such as for a stein, or if Walmart does not use psychological rounding for the item, select IGNORE. Auth. Substitution Group - If this item is unavailable to a distributor, and it can be replaced with similar items set up in a substitution group, select the group. For example, the "suitcase" pack is authorized, but the distributor carries the 24 pack. Promo. Substitution Group - Similar to the Auth Substitution Group above, this allows substitution if a distributor carries a product similar to that included in a Price Leadership promotion. Product Line Category - Use to distinguish between Miller and Coors Brewing products. This option is based on Walmart requirements, as Walmart views these lines as two different companies. (This option may be removed after Walmart updates the required systems.)

This code is associated with Master Item imports. We recommend entering the Brand name in the code field. Enter in all upper case, using underscores instead of spaces. You can abbreviate the code (Brand) as needed. However, it must be unique (not already assigned to another Brand).
Note: When a Brand is added, the Brand choices are refreshed and the new Brand is pre-selected. ____________________________________________________________ |
