Manage Promotions

VMP promotions temporarily lower the PTC (Price to Consumer) and/or PTR (Price to Retailer) of selected items in one or more stores.  These are set up by the VMP Analyst in cooperation with the retailer.

The steps below describe how to locate, view, update, and delete promotions.  See Overview - Promotion Types and Overlapping Rules for descriptions of the different types of promotions available, as well as the rules in place to handle promotion discrepancies caused by overlapping dates, items, and stores.

Update a Promotion

As long as a promotion is not over, most parts can be updated.  The exceptions are:

  • Items cannot be changed.  If a different item is desired, you must cancel the existing promotion and set up a new one.

  • Stores can be changed for Price Leadership and Free Standing Insert promotions, but not for any other promotion type.

  • Current promotions (in effect now) can be extended or shortened by changing the End Date.  The Effective Date cannot be changed.  To allow time for updates to the retailer's system, the earliest End Date allowed is tomorrow.

  • For future promotions (beginning after today), both date fields can be updated.

  • Over promotions (ended before today) cannot be updated.

To cancel a current promotion, change the End Date to tomorrow's date.

To cancel a future promotion, simply Delete it.  (See the next set of steps.)

Follow these steps to update a promotion:

From the Vendor Managed Pricing tab, under Pricing:

  1. Click Manage Promotions.

  2. Enter the Start On or After date on which the promotion will be active, or enter other search criteria.  Today's date lists all current and future promotions.

Enter dates in the format mm/dd/yyyy or mmddyy.

  1. Click Find.

  2. Click the promotion's Effective Period.

  3. Make changes as needed.  Use the notes above as a guide.

  4. Click Save or Save and Proceed.
