Downloading Files

Follow these steps to download load a file from a viaLink application.  Many types of files can be downloaded, including:

The steps listed here are from Internet ExplorerÒ 5.5 and NetscapeÒ 4.6.

Download a file using Internet Explorer

A.

Click Download and select the file

  1. Click Download from any syncLink window.

This window displays the reports or other files that have run and are waiting for download. It includes any reports that were too large to send as an attachment. Reports that have run and successfully been sent as an e-mail attachment will not appear.

  1. Select the file you will download by clicking the option button to the left of the File Description.

  2. Click Download.

After you select the file and click Download, the File Download window re-displays with the file you will download, a Download button, and a Continue button.

Note: It is important that you click the Download button FIRST in this next step.

B.

Click Download and save the file

  1. Click Download. The Internet Explorer File download window displays.

  2. Click Save this file to disk.

  3. Click OK. The Save as window displays.

If you require a path (folder) or filename different than the one displayed, change it in this step. Choosing a path and file name is done using the normal Windows 95/98/2000/NT methods.

  1. Click Save. The file downloads and the Download complete displays when the file has transferred.

  2. Click Close.

  3. Click Continue. The Download Confirmed window displays.

  4. If you need to download another file, click Another Download and repeat these steps. Otherwise, click Go to Main Menu.

Download a file using Netscape

A.

Click Download and select the file

  1. Click Download from any syncLink window.

This window displays the reports and other files that have run and are waiting for download. It includes any reports that were too large to send as an attachment. Reports that have run and successfully been sent as an e-mail attachment will not appear.

  1. Select the file you will download by clicking the option button to the left of the File Description.

B.

Click Download and save the file

  1. Click Download. The Save As window displays.

  1. Click Save. The file downloads.

  2. A list of the folders that are available on your computer display in a separate window. Click the X in the upper right-hand corner to close this window.

The Success! window displays to indicate the file has transferred.

  1. Click Continue. The Download Confirmed window displays.

  2. If you need to download another file, click Another Download and repeat these steps. Otherwise, click Back to Main Menu.
