Update a Promotion

Certain parts of a promotion can be updated  The actions you can take are based on business rules set by the Status of the promotion.  These business rules are described below.

New Promotions

For promotions with a Status of New:

Activated Promotions

For promotions with a Status of Activated:

Over or Cancelled Promotions

Promotions with that Status of Over or Cancelled cannot be updated.

 

Follow these steps:

First, Find and select the promotion.

Then choose the task to perform.

Add a deal

Delete or Cancel a deal

Change Promotion or Deal Dates

Add or Remove Areas

Change the promotion Description

Change the First Order Date and other optional dates

 

Find and select the promotion

From the Item & Cost tab:

  1. Click Manage Promotions.

  2. Enter search criteria to Find and list the promotion.

  1. Click Find.

  2. Select the promotion.

  3. Follow the steps below for your specific task.

Add a deal

New status only

You can use two methods to add a deal.  

Add Deals - Express Entry

With the promotion selected:

    1. Select Add Deals - Express Entry from the Next Step bar.

    2. Click Proceed.

    3. Click the desired deal type and enter the deal information.

See Overview - Adding Deals for links to the deal steps.

Manage Deals

With the promotion selected:

    1. Select Manage Deals from the Next Step bar.

    2. Click Proceed.

    3. Select the Allowance Type (type of deal).

    4. Enter the Deal ID, dates, and other optional information as desired.

    5. Add Deal and go to Manage Deal Conditions is displayed on the Next Step bar.  Click Save and Proceed.

    6. Enter the deal items and conditions.

    7. Return to Deal Selection is displayed on the Next Step bar.  Click Save and Proceed.

Note: If your company is authorized to use Allowance Components and you wish to do so, please add the deal using the steps in Add an Amount Off (Cents Off) Deal using Components

Delete or Cancel a deal

New and Activated status

There are several methods you can use to delete or cancel a deal.  Park City Group recommends selecting Manage Promotion / Deal Dates.

Add or Remove Areas

New and Activated status

You can add cost zones or subscribers (retailers) to both New and Activated promotions.  Areas can only be removed from New promotions.

  1. Select Manage Areas from the Next Step bar and click Proceed.

  2. Add or remove zones or subscribers as needed.

  3. Select Return to Promotion Selection from the Next Step bar and click Save and Proceed.

Change Promotion or Deal Dates

New and Activated status

  1. Select Manage Promotion / Deal Dates from the Next Step bar and click Proceed.

Change the promotion Description

New status only

  1. Select Update Promotion from the Next Step bar and click Proceed.

  2. Change the Description.

  3. Select Return to Promotion Selection from the Next Step bar and click Save and Proceed.

Change the First Order Date and other optional dates

New and Activated status

As long as the promotion is not in effect, the First Order Date, First Ship Date, and other optional dates can be changed.

  1. Select Update Promotion from the Next Step bar and click Proceed.

  2. Change or add the optional dates as needed.

  3. Select Return to Promotion Selection from the Next Step bar and click Save and Proceed.
